Be our volunteer!

Welcome among the food rescuers!

The Food Bank’s goal is to turn surplus into help, not waste. Day by day, we work to deliver rescued food
to people in need – and our volunteers play an invaluable role in this mission.
In an average month, you can help with packing donations, participating in events, distributing flyers,
or even providing administrative support.

Check out where you can best get involved – every hand counts!

Why is it good to be a volunteer?

Being a volunteer not only helps others, but also gives you a lot.

Besides doing good, you also gain benefits that can have a long-term impact on your life:

  • You meet new people and belong to a community.
  • Your empathy, communication and organizational skills develop.
  • You can gain real experience even for entering the job market.
  • It energizes, motivates, and strengthens your self-confidence.
  • It helps you see that small actions also count.

Volunteering is therefore not only about giving, but also about enriching yourself – with experiences, knowledge and connections.

Why is it good for the world?

The impact of volunteering goes beyond the individual – it helps social cohesion, strengthens communities, and can even have a beneficial effect on the environment.

Some activities, such as food rescue, also carry concrete economic and ecological benefits:

  • Food waste is reduced, so fewer resources are wasted.
  • Waste production and greenhouse gas emissions (e.g. CO₂) are reduced.
  • Rescued food reaches those in need, reducing social inequality.
  • Volunteer work helps nonprofit organizations operate, which also means financial relief for the social welfare system.

What They Said About Us

The creation of the Food Bank in Hungary was also a great idea. Its founders have shown – and continue to show – their social sensitivity and willingness to help. National Red Cross societies around the world cooperate with local Food Bank organizations. By joining forces with the Hungarian Food Bank Association, the Hungarian Red Cross was able to reduce the difficulties of thousands of families. In recognition of the work of the Hungarian Food Bank Association, it received the Certificate of Appreciation from the Hungarian Red Cross in 2012.

Charity cooking is a unique opportunity for companies to provide real help – without having to pick up a wooden spoon. We prepare the food, and companies, with their support, make it possible for warm meals to reach those who need it most. This service not only serves a good cause, but also sets an inspiring example of social responsibility – all as a shared experience, involving employees.

It’s important that the offer happens in time, as this is the only way we can organize quick delivery and distribution. This way we not only make lives easier, but also protect the environment from waste.
